Susan Austin, Cheltenham Elementary School Counselor

It is an honor to serve as the school counselor at Cheltenham Elementary School … home of the Dolphins! This will be my 23rd year at CE, and I find great joy in supporting students in reaching their academic, career, and social emotional goals.

I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Penn State. WE ARE PENN STATE! I’m certified in applied positive psychology through the Flourishing Center.  In my role as a mindfulness ambassador, my focus is to lead and model mindfulness with our students and school community.

As a school counselor, I collaborate with parents/guardians, classroom teachers, and the school team to support students in having an enriching and positive elementary school experience. Meeting with students individually, in groups, and during SEL class lessons are some ways in which I build rapport and connect with all students while delivering a comprehensive guidance program.

During my free time, I enjoy connecting with friends and family, appreciating nature, walking my dogs, and watching a good movie. Practicing gratitude helps me stay centered and value the little things in life. I am an animal enthusiast and two loves of my life are my sassy French bulldog, Daisy, and my sweet pitbull mix, Lincoln.

I am looking forward to another amazing year of learning and student growth.
