Classification of Individuals, Groups and Organizations

The individuals, groups and organizations eligible to use district facilities and their respective classifications are as follows:

Class A. School-sponsored organizations, officially recognized parent and staff organizations (approved activities), Alumni Association of Cheltenham High School, Cheltenham School District Foundation, Montgomery County Board of Elections for Elections, Cheltenham Township Adult School

This classification includes organizations whose primary function is to support District educational programs, as well as the Montgomery County Board of Elections on Election Days and the Cheltenham Township Adult School. Examples include school-sponsored student organizations, approved parent-teacher activities (PTOs/PTAs), approved booster club activities, approved staff organization activities, the Cheltenham School District Foundation, the Alumni Association of Cheltenham High School, instructional programs for the benefit of students or District employees, the Montgomery County Board of Elections for elections, and the Cheltenham Township Adult School. Class A organizations do not have to pay a facilities use application processing fee. If admission for any event is charged, the proceeds must exclusively benefit the sponsoring Class A organization; otherwise, fees will be charged to cover the cost of District personnel assigned to the event (i.e. security, custodial, food service, maintenance, etc.)

Class B. Nonprofit organizations within Cheltenham Township whose primary purpose involves township pre-school and school aged children

This classification includes, but is not limited to, youth sports organizations, scouting groups, or youth groups sponsored by the Cheltenham Township Parks and Recreation Department. The organization must be physically located in Cheltenham Township and at least 90% of the pre-school and/or school aged children participants must reside within the boundaries of Cheltenham Township. Class B organizations are required to pay a facilities use application processing fee. Any entity seeking to qualify as a Class B organization is responsible for providing sufficient documentation evidencing the entity’s status as a non-profit.

Class C. For profit groups within Cheltenham Township; nonprofit groups not qualifying as Class B

This classification includes any non-profit, community-wide educational, cultural, civic, recreational, character development, charitable, or social service agency that does not meet the criteria to be considered Class B organizations. Any entity seeking to qualify as a Class C non-profit organization is responsible for providing sufficient documentation evidencing the entity’s status as a non-profit. This classification also includes for-profit groups whose primary place of business is located within Cheltenham Township. This classification does not include any for-profit entities that charge an admission fee in order to attend the event or activity taking place in the school facility. Class C organizations are required to pay a facilities use application processing fee.

Class D. Events or Organizations Not Meeting Criteria Set Above

Class D organizations are required to pay a facilities use application processing fee.
