Our Mission

The Cheltenham African American Alliance is a non-profit organization created for the educational improvement of African American and/or African Diaspora students in the Cheltenham School District. We aim to be of service to families as we strive to promote engagement and close the access gap to resources, programs and the many opportunities offered by the district.

Who We Are

Parents organized in 2000 in response to low achievement and low expectations of African American students in Cheltenham’s schools. We have made eliminating achievement gaps part of the district-wide strategic plan, encouraged increasing academic rigor for all students including Pre/Advanced placement instruction, recognized 10 outstanding seniors each year, and encouraged restorative practices to reduce disciplinary incidents.
