A handful of CHS female students recently completed the Empower-HER fall series from the group Make the Distinction. The program took place bi-weekly on Saturdays between October and mid-December, and included sessions on social media etiquette and safety; self esteem and self awareness in relation to others; and leadership development.
Empower-HER is a mentoring program founded by Victoria Edwards and Me’Chel Horsey, CHS alumnae and employees in the CSD Student Services Department, with the mission to guide and empower the young women of Cheltenham High School as they navigate their paths toward success. Through mentorship, the program aims to influence their lives in a positive manner, now and in the future. CHS alumna Alexandra Ingram, executive director of Make the Distinction, partnered with Horsey and Edwards to facilitate the program.
Students received gifts, gift cards, a program T-shirt and a certificate for participating in the program.
