Ron Felder From PHEAA Speaks to EPIC About Financial Aid

PHEAA Higher Education Access Partner for Education Services Ron Felder visited EPIC Thursday afternoon to educate students about financial aid opportunities. He reviewed the basics of applying for financial aid, recommended looking into scholarship opportunities, taking advantage of the Pell Grant, and how to determine a budget for a loan. 

“The number one reason people drop out of college is due to not being able to afford it,” said Felder. “There are opportunities out there for free money - take advantage of them.”

After reviewing the basics of the financial aid process, Felder offered insight into ways to save, like dual enrollment, ROTC programs, commuting, opting for a smaller meal plan, living off-campus, and renting textbooks. 

“College is not a risk. It’s a reward,” said Felder. “A diploma will only get you so far in life. You need a college education to survive in America.”
