Congratulations to rising senior Maliah Opuni, who was recently selected to participate in the Data Analytics Sprint, Data Explorers program.

The program, created in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia's Data Lab, will allow students to learn how to make sense of data from TikTok trends to healthcare breakthroughs. Through hands-on activities, they will collect, clean, and analyze real data, create charts and dashboards using Google Sheets and Tableau, and tell stories that bring numbers to life. By the end, students will know how data drives decisions in sports, business, healthcare, and beyond, and they’ll build skills that open doors to future careers in data science, technology, and STEM.

“I'm really hoping to get some good experience in the field of technical analytics, as I want to major in cybersecurity,” said Opuni, who is enrolled in the Networking and Cybersecurity program at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN). “I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out, as I will take any opportunity for real, hands-on experience.“

Aside from being enrolled at EASTERN, Opuni takes Computer Science Honors courses at CHS, and is a member of the Cybersecurity Honors Society. For her next step after high school, she is looking at Bowie State and Saint Vincent College, among others, and intends to major in cybersecurity.
