Myers Elementary students visited nine team building stations to celebrate a month of safe, respectful and responsible learning during the school’s inaugural Peace Train Day PBIS Celebration!

Grade K-2 students played a musical chairs-style icebreaker during Hot Spot to discover shared interests, blew bubbles whenever they agreed with a peer's favorite things in Bubbles in Common, and passed whispered personal facts around a circle to practice listening skills in Whisper Down the Lane. They also gathered on towels for Storytime! to hear a book about friendship, practiced gentle stretches and animal poses during Kid Yoga to learn calming techniques, and worked together using a large parachute to pop beanbags or play volleyball in Parachute Palooza. Finally, they used their bodies to shape letters and spell out full words during Human Alphabet before relaxing on beach blankets with popsicles at the snack station.

Grade 3-5 students asked yes-or-no questions to guess the famous identity stuck on their foreheads in What’s My Name? created a joint poster promoting safety, respect, and responsibility during a collaborative classroom art project, and tossed a ball of yarn after sharing personal facts to build a web showing their connections in Spiderweb. Additionally, teams raced against the clock to line up silently by height, name, and birthday in the Silent Line Up Challenge, listened to a story about kindness during Storytime! and followed a guided video to practice deep breathing and peaceful visualization during mindful yoga. To wrap up, students tossed a ball and answered whichever icebreaker question their thumb landed on in Thumb Ball, raced to grab a beanbag to receive encouraging compliments from peers in Compliment Central, and unwound in the schoolyard while enjoying popsicles served by PTO volunteers at the snack station.
