An experienced educator and dedicated student advocate, Keith Freeman has been appointed the Cheltenham High School Dean of Students. He brings a rich background in special education, student transition planning, and program administration to the high school leadership team. The CSD Board of School Directors approved his appointment at its September legislative board meeting.

The dean will collaborate with students, staff, families, and community partners to promote student achievement, attendance, behavior, and social-emotional well-being, and foster a safe, positive and academically focused school environment. The position provides leadership in student discipline, restorative practices, school culture, and student support systems while helping ensure a respectful and inclusive learning environment for all students.

“I look forward to contributing to the Cheltenham High School community,” Freeman said. “My goal is to build meaningful partnerships with parents and guardians so we can work hand-in-hand to support our students' academic journeys. I look forward to cultivating a welcoming, encouraging and safe environment where students, staff, and families can all thrive together.”

Most recently, Freeman was an educator / transition and career spotlight facilitator at Cheltenham High School’s Empowerment Program in Cheltenham (EPIC). In that position, he provided individualized instruction and academic support for high school students experiencing attendance and engagement challenges; collaborated with counselors, administrators, and families to develop strategies to promote student engagement, attendance, and successful transition planning; facilitated weekly career spotlight sessions that motivated students to explore post-secondary education, career pathways, workforce readiness, and independent living opportunities.

Previously, Freeman worked for the School District of Philadelphia in a variety of roles, including as a special education teacher, case manager and teacher coach. He’s also served as a special education teacher at Olney Charter High School, a case manager at YouthBuild Charter School, and a computer science, earth science, and English educator at Community Education Partners.

Freeman graduated from Arcadia with a M.Ed. in special education after earning a B.S. in business administration from Bloomsburg University.
