EPIC Hosts Dress4Success Guest Speaker Ed Krasik
- 2024-2025 Spotlights
As part of its Dress4Success guest speaker series, EPIC hosted mechanical insulator Ed Krasik to speak on his career experience. With over 20 years of experience installing HVAC systems, Krasik spoke on his experience climbing the trade ladder from apprentice to foreman to being at the top of his field.
A mechanical insulator apprenticeship takes a hands-on approach to teach skills needed in the field. Krasik learned under Bill Powers and found success by mimicking what he did during his five-year apprenticeship. Mechanical insulators use math skills like geometry, trigonometry, algebra, fractions, and decimals in an applied setting.
“Being successful is easy, show up every day and work hard,” said Krasik. “It’s that simple.”
The apprenticeship is an accredited program in which students earn 41 college credits after completing, if they chose to attend college after the program. However, mechanical insulators do not need a college degree to be successful in their career. Most insulators make six figures after only five years of experience and receive regular raises.
EPIC’s Dress4Success program is organized by Special Education teacher Keith Freeman. Check back for more Dress4Success guest speaker stories throughout the school year.
