CSD Board of School Directors Elects New Leadership

At the CSD Board of School Directors’ annual reorganization meeting on December 3, Ms. Leah Mulhearn was elected as president, and Ms. Jennifer Lowman was elected as vice president. Ms. Mulhearn and Ms. Lowman succeed Ms. Pamela Henry and Mr. Daniel Schultz, respectively.


Ms. Mulhearn, who has served on the board since 2021, has lived in Elkins Park with her husband Jim for over 15 years, and is the proud parent of three children attending Cheltenham schools. Ms. Mulhearn has worked professionally in higher education student affairs and non-profit fundraising, however now focuses her time now on her children, volunteer activities, and board service.


Ms. Mulhearn’s school district-related service has included Wyncote Elementary PTO President, and as a volunteer in Elkins Park School, Cedarbrook Middle School and Cheltenham High School. Additionally, she has been part of the United Parent Group’s Leadership Circle. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Eastern University where she serves as a trustee.


A cum laude graduate of Harvard Law, Ms. Lowman, who joined the board in 2020, has worked in the nonprofit arena for over 15 years. She is Grants Manager for Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia. She worked for a dozen years at Philadelphia’s Education Law Center as director of client services / training and senior staff attorney. 


Throughout her career, Ms. Lowman has advised and trained families and advocates on the implementation of the rights of public school students in the areas of school enrollment, discipline, special education and other areas. She also represented students and their families in, among other areas, enrollment, discipline, special education, and charter school-related issues. A Cheltenham Township resident since 2007, Ms. Lowman has been involved in a number of community- and school-based organizations. 


She resides in Glenside with her daughter, a senior at Mount Holyoke College, and son, a 2024 CHS grad and a sophomore at Georgia Tech.
