Last week, a handful of CHS researchers attended the Delaware Valley (DVSF) Science Fair and a few came away with impressive awards. Senior Adora Abdul, sophomores Amaya McCants and Samahn Lolley, and freshmen Neve Schwarz, Frida Brodsky, and Grace Byard all earned spots at the fair after qualifying at the Montgomery County Science Competition earlier this winter.

Schwarz took second place in the Chemistry category  and freshman Byard won an honorable mention in Botany category.

Schwarz also won the Mixit - Kohlhaas Award, given in memory of two extraordinary men who supported the science fair for many years. Jack Mixit was one of the DVSF directors and worked at the Franklin Institute during the 1960s and 70s when the science fairs were held there. Donald Kohlhaas has been a long supporter of the fair and established this award to honor his friend Jack. Mr. Kohlhaas passed away in August 2021 and his family has graciously offered to continue sponsoring this award. Each winner received $100 and a certificate.

Lolley also took home a special prize, the Constellation Energy Award, which is given to outstanding projects that align with the company’s mission to promote the use of clean energy and reduce our carbon footprint. Each winner received $100 along with their certificate.
