Rising CHS Sophomore Sylvie Merryman-Lotze recently earned a spot with Circus Smirkus, an award-winning traveling youth circus, to perform in this summer’s Big Top Tour. As one of 30 youth circus performers with the tour, Merryman-Lotze is only one of four participants from Pennsylvania.
“I started performing when I was pretty young and just fell in love with it,” said Merryman-Lotze. “I’m so excited to be doing what I love with some of my favorite people and to experience the life of a traveling circus artist!”
Merryman-Lotze has been practicing circus arts for 10 years at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts. She began her journey with Circus Smirkus at its summer camp in 2019 and went on to attend three of its programs.
The tour opens June 28 at its home-base in Greensboro, Vt., and then hits the road on a 65-show tour that will visit four states and 16 towns across New England.
