After serving in an interim capacity since April, Anthony Carter has been named the Cheltenham School District Director of Facilities and Maintenance.

In his role as director, Carter is responsible for overseeing district buildings, grounds and equipment, ensuring their smooth, safe, and efficient functioning. He will direct staff management, budgets, and vendor contracts, develop and implement maintenance policies, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and coordinate repairs, renovations, and facility projects to support organizational goals.

With 17 years of experience in the district, Carter is skilled in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, ventilating systems, alarms, boilers, and HVAC systems, and has worked his way through the ranks, beginning as a maintenance mechanic in 2008 and eventually becoming the assistant director of facilities and maintenance in 2024.

As assistant director, Carter assisted the director of facilities and maintenance with staff management, budgets, and vendor contracts, developed and implemented maintenance policies, ensured compliance with safety regulations, and coordinated repairs, renovations, and facility projects to support organizational goals. As a maintenance mechanic, he utilized his knowledge to maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, light carpentry, and other building maintenance needs throughout the district.

Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he attended engineering school. He then went on to Lincoln Technical Institute where he received his HVAC training, and finished his education at Ferris State University where he learned refrigerant transition and recovery.

Carter resides in Lansdale with his family.
