Communications Committee
26-27
September 2026
With chair Leah Mulhearn presiding, the Communications Committee convened for the first time this school year on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Administration Building and via Zoom. The agenda had two items: How CSD Communicates and the CSD App. Director of Communications Kevin Kaufman started the meeting by presenting to the committee and attendees the different ways CSD Communications reaches its constituents. Mr. Kaufman covered the website, social media, news share, mass email / text / robocall and local news media. Kaufman also unveiled the new family communications hub on the website. With regard to the app, which has been limited in its utility for some time now, Mr. Kaufman explained some of the known issues with the app and the delays in having the fixes made. As it turns out, PowerSchool, the vendor app, will be discontinuing support of its custom mobile app as of the end of next September. Following some discussion, it was agreed upon that Mr. Kaufman would explore a different app vendor who would be able to provide services for parents/guardians and students. The next meeting of the Communications Committee will be Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Administration Building and via Zoom. June 2026
The CSD Board of School directors convened the inaugural meeting of the re-constituted Communications Committee on Tuesday, June 23 in person at the Administration Building and via Zoom. Board President Leah Mulhearn chaired the meeting and reviewed the purpose of the committee, to discuss and learn about communications initiatives, and ways to collaborate with community partners as CSD clarifies the way it communicates with its stakeholders. The re-launch of this committee, which will include three to four board members, aligns with the new strategic plan’s strategic communications goals. Some examples of topics for discussion will be similar to the previous incarnation of the committee, including social media metrics, platform upgrades, new communications services being offered, strategic plan updates, and communications issues. The 2026-27 schedule of Communications Committee meetings will be released once it’s established. Video>
