Kindergarten Happenings

  •  Lesson 1 -

    • Rules and Expectations of the Library.
    • Students will learn the rules and expectations in the library, book care, and how to select a book

     Lesson 2-

    • Review Rules and Expectations of the Library.
    • Students will discuss the importance of when it is ok and when it is not ok to interrupt.
    • Students will listen to the story "Interrupting Chicken"
    • Students will make a chicken craft. 

     Lesson 3-

    • Review Rules and Expectations of the Library.
    • Students will discuss the importance of importance of listening. 
    • Students will listen to the story "Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen"
    • Students will make a bunny listening craft. 

     Lesson 4-

    • Students will review the 4 seasons. They have been learning about them in class.
    • Students will listen to the story "The Leaf Theif".
    • Students will be able to recite the 4 seasons and 1 thing that makes each season unique . such as Winter has snow. Fall leaves change color.
    • Students will listen to two seasons songs to reinforce the 4 seasons.
    • Students will make a craft to practice writting the word "Fall". 

     Lesson 5-

    • Students will practice listening skills and focusing on being able to answer questions based on the story. 
    • Students will listen to the story "Squrriels Leap, Squirrels Sleep. ".
    • Students will be able to answer questions based upon the story. 
    • Students will make a craft to practice writing tracing letters. 

     Lesson 6-

    • Students will practice listening skills and focusing on being able to answer questions based on the story. 
    • Students will listen to the story "Hello Bumblebee Bat ".
    • Students will be able to answer questions based upon the story. 
    • Students will make a craft of a bat.

    • Students will listen to the story "Mission to Space" to learn about the first Native American in space. 
    • Students will focus on answering questions who, what, where, when, why and how when reading nonfiction books. 
    • Students will take an AR test on the book.

    • Students will listen to the story "Maria Tallcheif: Prima Ballerina" to learn about the first Native American Prima Ballerina.  
    • Students will focus on answering questions who, what, where, when, why and how when reading nonfiction books.

    • Students will learn the 4 sections of the library -- Easy, Biography, Dewey Decimal, Fiction
    • Students will learn how to organize fiction and easy call numbers.
    • Students will learn how to organize the dewey decimal system.
    • students will complete a worksheet.
