This is my second year teaching at CHS. I also run Spanish homework club on Tuesdays, which is open to all Spanish students in need of homework help, extra studying, 1:1 assistance and working in small groups with peers to reinforce concepts.

Spanish has been my favorite subject since 10th grade; I adored my Guatemalan Spanish teacher, Señora Soha, who brought Spanish to life for me not only in a linguistic sense but also culturally, through introduction to the customs and traditions of South America to researching the literature movements across the Hispanic world in the past century.

Because of her positive influence in my Spanish learning experience, and my subsequent majoring in Spanish in college, it is my goal to provide my students with a challenging and relevant year of Spanish learning, one that inspires them to think more about their own communication habits and to develop integrated language skills in Spanish. What’s more, I endeavor to connect my students’ current and personal experiences with experiences of other notable Hispanic and/or Latinx figures, such as Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, in order to demonstrate and inquire about los hilos en común que nos vinculan juntos (the common strands that link us all).
