Neil Schroeder | World Languages (Spanish)
After working and studying for over 6 years in several Spanish-speaking countries, I returned to the U.S., worked as a bilingual counselor in North Philadelphia, and then in 1997 started working for the Cheltenham School District. Those years abroad helped me understand the importance of having a global perspective in our world today. My goal is to engender this objective in my students so that they have the tools necessary to meet the demands of an extremely connected world. This first became apparent to me over a number of years working in the Philadelphia School District in a variety of positions from bilingual education to teaching Spanish with an exceptionally diverse population. Due to the high demand for services in Spanish, I encourage my students to consider how to incorporate their study of Spanish into their life goals and careers to make themselves more marketable and desirable for future employers. I strive to encourage my students to become both fluent communicators in Spanish and culturally competent to help them thrive in our diverse and increasingly complex world.
