Beth Petermichl | World Languages (German)

I began my career teaching German at a private school in Philadelphia. I am now in my 19th year teaching German for the Cheltenham School District.  My personal goal as a world language teacher is to develop language and cultural proficiency in my students. I strive to help them to become competent language speakers and I continuously work to expose them to German culture.  Through their understanding of German culture, my students work towards becoming informed global citizens. Language learning can change one’s view of the world in a positive way, so with that in mind, I started my first cultural exchange a year ago.  In July 2016, my students and I lived with our host families for two weeks in Bad Oldesloe, Germany. During that time, we attended school and traveled to various cities in northern Germany. In July 2017, my students and I hosted our exchange partners and teachers for two weeks. It was very impressive to watch these young people build personal relationships which hopefully will lead to lifelong friendships.
