Gabe DiBerardinis, Glenside Elementary School Counselor

This is my seventh year as a school counselor and my first year at Glenside Elementary School.  I have spent the last six years working at the elementary level in the Philadelphia School District. I approach school counseling with the theory that students’ social-emotional growth is a critical complement to their academic achievements.  I have used this operating principle to develop a dynamic and engaging guidance program that incorporates classroom instruction, individual and small group counseling, and school-wide events.  I believe that as a school counselor, it is my job to be an ambassador and liaison between our school and the community.  I’ve also utilized a blog, a monthly e-newsletter, and PTA meetings to engage families and staff.

Prior to my career as a school counselor, I worked for seven years in various professional positions, including sales and marketing, and with students as a camp director at the Rocky Run YMCA and tennis instructor at the Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis Center (aka Legacy Youth Tennis and Education). My diverse career experiences have strengthened my interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with co-workers, students, and their parents.
