Dr. Tamara Thomas Smith
Dr. Tamara Thomas Smith has served as a district level and school based administrator, instructional leader, and teacher in various pre-kindergarten through high school configurations. Other tiles held by Dr. Smith include Dean of Students and Athletic Director.
Specifically, Dr. Smith worked as Deputy Superintendent of the Chester Upland School District. She also held she held principal positions at Russel H. Conwell Middle Magnet School, Sheridan West Academy Middle School and Leslie P. Hill Elementary School. A Philadelphia native, Dr. Smith attended Friends’ Central High School on a full academic scholarship. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from LaSalle University, a Master of Education Degree in Elementary Education from Arcadia University, a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Joseph’s University (Dissertation: Race, Pedagogy & practice). In addition, Dr. Smith attended the Harvard University Graduate School of Education’s National Institute for Urban School Leaders.
Dr. Smith resides in Lower Merion. She is the proud mother of four children, two of whom are twins, currently attending the University of Pennsylvania. She is a host parent for international students. One of her proudest accomplishments was serving as the Principal of the elementary school that she herself attended as a student.
