A Cappella Groups
-
CHS has two student-run a cappella groups: Up the Octave is our all-female group; and Sons of Pitch is our all-male group. Each ensemble has 16-18 members in grades 9-12. Both groups give energetic, entertaining performances of contemporary music. They perform several times a year at workshops, festivals, and school and community events. The groups are student-run, with advisement from Ms. Hutton.
When are the auditions?
The auditions are in mid to late September and are held after school in the CHS Choir Room. What is the audition process?
The auditions are student directed. During the audition you will sing a short song of your choice and perform a few vocal exercises. We encourage participation in a group song at the pre-audition workshop after school in September. Are there any other requirements?
Weekly rehearsals are held during the school year. There are workshops and performances in the community approximatley once per month. Performances include the CHS Winter and Spring Choir Concerts and the Vocal Showcase in late May. You must also be enrolled in a CHS Choir class.
