    A Cheltenham resident for 13 years, Bill England was elected to the School Board in 2013 and electedto a second term in 2017. England served as Board president in 2016 and 2017 and serves as the co-chair of the Facilities, Financial Affairs and Liaison Committees. He is also the elected representative to the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. England’s community involvement began as a soccer coach through Cheltenham Sports. He participated in the working group that developed "Sustainable Cheltenham," a means to improve the environment and health and well-being of the community; and served as the inaugural chairperson of the Human Relations Commission. Trained as a macro-level social worker, England has spent his career on policy and advocacy issues in education and health-related programs focused on children and families. England’s 25 years of professional experience include serving as the national CHIP director at the Children’s Defense Fund, state director at Enroll America Pennsylvania (focused on Affordable Care Act enrollment) and director of public engagement at the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania. He is a consultant to the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger. England graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh and received a fellowship under which he earned his master's in social work from the University of Pittsburgh. England is married and has one child who attends Cheltenham High School.
